About The Event
Step back in time to the early days of the “Colony,” as the city of Roswell was first called by its earliest settlers. During the 1820’s-30’s only the Cherokee were living in the area we now call home. Enter one Roswell King, who on his way north to Dahlonega, GA, from the coast, happened to pass through the area and note its great potential in natural resources. Eventually Roswell and his son Barrington realized their dream of building a textile mill and laying out a town to support their business. With the help of wealthy coastal investors, Roswell’s future as a thriving mill town was secured.
Marvel at the beauty of our Greek Revival architecture and how the town was saved as the Union Army advanced toward Atlanta during the Civil War.
Learn about our own version of “Scarlet O’Hara,” her elegant, talk-of-the-town Roswell wedding, and her connection to two U.S. presidents.
All this and more awaits as you finally learn the stories of Roswell’s past.
